WEST PALM BEACH DDA CELEBRATES THE RETURN OF THE ARTS WITH A DANCE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 26, 2021) – Twirl, twist or tango your way through the streets of Downtown West Palm Beach for a chance to win big this spring! The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is hosting a dance photography contest to celebrate the return of in-person events and the performing arts after a yearlong hiatus due to the ongoing pandemic. Launching on International Dance Day, April 29, the competition asks photographers and dancers to team up and create artistic photos in iconic locations throughout the Downtown District. The contest runs until Tuesday, June 1, 2021, and there is no entry fee.

“The purpose of International Dance Day is to create awareness for and celebrate the universal art of dance,” said Tiffany Faublas, DDA Marketing Director. “Launching our competition on this day adds even more depth and community engagement to this creative endeavor, which is sorely needed after such a long time away from others and the arts.”

Photographers are asked to demonstrate their artistic vision featuring a dancer at any location within the DDA’s boundaries and upload them to the contest portal at DowntownWPB.com/Dance by June 1.  The public will vote on their favorite photos while the competition is open. The DDA is offering cash prizes of $750, $500 and $250 for the top three photographs. Voting closes on June 1, 2021, and winners will be announced on June 2, 2021.
