This month, the DDA Board reviewed several items tied to long-term planning, mobility, district operations, and upcoming budget priorities. The discussion reflected both current district needs and future investments, including transportation updates, public realm improvements, policy development, and projects that may shape downtown’s continued growth.

Board Meeting Highlights:

Convention Center Hotel Update
Representatives shared an overview of Related Ross’s proposed second headquarters hotel adjacent to the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The proposal is intended to expand hotel capacity, support convention business, and generate additional economic activity for Palm Beach County.

The proposal positions the hotel as a public-private partnership designed to strengthen the Convention Center’s competitiveness, in addition to addressing considerations related to traffic, parking, construction, and neighborhood impacts.

City of West Palm Beach Transportation Update
Jessica A. Keller, Parking and Mobility Administrator for the City of West Palm Beach, presented an update on how the City’s mobility planning has evolved since the 2018 Downtown Mobility Plan and how recent studies are informing future investments. She also shared details on the tentative West Palm Move program, which will include both on-demand and fixed-route service. The findings continue to support investment in walkability, bicycle infrastructure, transit connections, and corridor improvements to improve accessibility and accommodate future growth.

WPBGo Update

Our collaborative partner, WPBGo presented an update on its FY2026 accomplishments and ongoing work to advance transportation demand management (TDM), commuter programs, and regional mobility initiatives throughout West Palm Beach. Their efforts support downtown accessibility, workforce mobility, and long-term transportation planning goals. The presentation also highlighted its recipient of the 2026 Congestion Hero of the Year recognition, demonstrating its impact on mobility and transportation alternatives in the region.  The award was given to Block by Block, our Downtown Ambassadors.

Artificial Intelligence Policy Development
BotQueen AI outlined a three-phase engagement to help the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) adopt an artificial intelligence responsibly policy.  This process will accomplish policy development, staff training, governance, and ongoing advisory services.

FY 26 – 27 Draft Budget
Staff presented the preliminary FY 2026-2027 budget for Board review and discussion. Work is underway to evaluate projected revenues, expenditures, program priorities, and operational needs, and will continue to refine the budget over the coming weeks. Feedback received from the Board and stakeholders will be incorporated into future revisions as staff works to develop a budget that aligns with the DDA’s strategic priorities and organizational goals.

District Services Update
