Celebrating 4th of July in #DowntownWPB

The 4th of July is just around the corner, and there’s no better place to celebrate Independence Day in The Palm Beaches than in DowntownWPB!  

4th of July Weekend Bar Crawl 

Get ready to visit five different locations in Downtown West Palm Beach on Friday, July 1! From 9 p.m. – 1 a.m., enjoy a free shot from Myers Lounge, 335 Speakeasy, Roxy’s Rooftop and Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, then head to the afterparty at Banko Cantina. 4th On Flagler 

One of the largest Independence Day events in South Florida is returning to the Waterfront (along Flagler Drive between Banyan Boulevard and Fern Street) on Monday, July 4, from 6 – 10 p.m.! 

Activities include live entertainment, the Bill Bone 5K, the Palm Beach Health Network Family Chill Zone, a Military Honor Salute, and refreshments for purchase. An 18-minute fireworks show is scheduled to ignite at 9:09 p.m., weather permitting, over the Intracoastal!

Celebrations at The Ben West Palm – Autograph Collection 

For the first time, The Ben Hotel is hosting a drive-in boutique car show on the front lawn! From 6-10 p.m., The Ben invites up to 40 cars to park on the lawn with front row seats to the 4th on Flagler fireworks show, beginning at 9:09 p.m. This is a free public event produced by Supercar Week Inc. that only requires a fee to register a vehicle. 

Proper Grit, the hotel’s indoor restaurant led by new Executive Chef Marc Rosen, will offer $100 bottles of Veuve Clicquot with White Chocolate M&M Popcorn to enjoy! Plus, the full menu of contemporary American food will be available to-go and hand-delivered to individual cars. The main dining room will be open for dinner and offer a complimentary bottle of Sea Sun wine by Caymus with the purchase of two entrees. 

Spruzzo, DowntownWPB’s only rooftop waterfront restaurant, has partnered with Veuve Clicquot and will be offering several fireworks viewing options with live music by DJ Kristian Caro from 5:3011:30 p.m.! VIP poolside cabana and table reservations begin at 5:30 p.m. and range from $75-$325 per person (and include prepaid food and beverage minimums and 20% gratuity). Cocktail attire encouraged. Reservations are required and can be made online.

Juneteenth (June 19) commemorates the day the announcement of the abolition of slavery was made in Texas in 1865. This weekend, celebrate and honor African American culture through the arts, history, entertainment, and more!

Community Foundation Executive Daryl Houston Appointed to West Palm Beach DDA Board of Directors

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 21, 2022) – The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has announced the appointment of Daryl K. Houston as a member of the DDA Board of Directors. The appointment was made by West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James.

 Houston is a life-long resident of Palm Beach County and has worked in downtown West Palm Beach for the past 14 years. He currently serves as the interim vice president for community impact for the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. He previously held leadership positions at the United Way of Palm Beach County.

Houston’s volunteer work includes a role as board chairman of the Emergency Food Shelter Program and vice chair of the Florida Philanthropic Network. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Sociology.

  1.  Avocado Grill (125 Datura St.): On Thanksgiving Day from 1-9 p.m., guests can enjoy a three-course dinner at $65 per person. A children’s menu will also be available. Batch New Southern Kitchen and Tap (223 Clematis St.): Beginning at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, customers dining in can enjoy Nana’s Turkey Dinner, which includes slow roasted turkey and gravy, buttermilk mashed potatoes, house-made cranberry sauce, sage and gruyere stuffing, and house-made pumpkin pie. For takeout, Batch is offering the Not Yo Granny’s Turkey Dinner, which features a sweet tea-brined, Cajun-fried turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce and sides. Customers can also order pumpkin pie “pudding,” banana pudding and bourbon pecan chocolate tart for dessert.   3. Meraki Juice Kitchen (328 Fern St.): This bright café and juice bar is selling Thanksgiving pies for $75. Customers can choose either pumpkin pie, lemon vanilla cheesecake or chocolate mousse. All pies come with a pint of vanilla ice cream. The last day to order is November 22 and pickup is November 24.   4. Morton’s The Steakhouse (777 S. Flagler Ave.): Located in Phillips Point, the restaurant is offering a Thanksgiving menu with all the fixings. At $59 per person, dine-in customers can enjoy a three-course meal that includes a winter salad, oven roasted turkey roulade with savory sage and cranberry stuffing served with an array of side dishes and pumpkin cheesecake with sea salt caramel for dessert. For takeout, you can order a family style dinner to-go that can feed four people for $179. Keep in mind that orders must be placed by Tuesday, November 23.   5. Pistache (101 N. Clematis St.): Chef Mike Burgio will be preparing a special three-course prix fixe menu from 2-8 p.m. For $75 per person, you can choose from a list of appetizers such as onion soup gratinee and short rib croquette, all natural turkey, halibut veronique, beef bourguignon and steak frites for an entrée, then mousese au chocolat, apple pie bread pudding or pumpkin pie for dessert.   6. Proper Grit at The Ben Hotel (251 North Narcissus Ave.): On Thanksgiving Day from 3-9 p.m., Chef Jesse Pita will be cooking all the classics you know and love but with a Proper twist. For $39 per person, guests can order butternut squash soup, fig granola,  baby iceberg, gorgonzola dolce, roasted hazelnuts, dried cranberry vinaigrette. Then, a family style dinner will feature light and dark meat turkey, traditional gravy, berry compote, sour dough stuffing, whipped sweet potatoes, collard greens; pumpkin pie with spiced mascarpone, apple cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream.   7. Treehouse (380 Trinity Place): Located at the Canopy Hotel, this rooftop bar is offering to-go dinners with sides and a pumpkin pie for $150 that can feed four people. However, those dinners are limited and must be ordered by Tuesday, November 23. Treehouse is also serving delectable dine-in meals on Thanksgiving Day from 12-9 p.m.; Thanksgiving Lunch is from 12-4 p.m. for $22 and Thanksgiving Dinner is from 4-9 p.m. for $30.
