Summer in Paradise

SUMMER IN PARADISE (dubbed S.I.P.) is here and you’re invited to have a S.I.P. and soak up the fun.

The City of West Palm Beach will celebrate the return of its popular Summer in Paradise (S.I.P) annual celebration from now through August 1, 2019.  This FREE, summer-long promotion will have a construction theme to embrace Phase II of the Clematis Streetscape project, which aims to create wider sidewalks with more shade trees to create a more pedestrian-friendly environment on our City’s most iconic street.

Guests can enjoy viewing – and taking selfies – with creative cone-themed pieces, including:

Cone-y Island – This year’s Summer in Paradise will feature a maze created by nationally recognized prop master, Frank Navarrete. The maze will be configured out of construction materials with interactive play zones, shade areas and water misters on the Great Lawn.

Cone Checkers – Play a giant game of checkers with cones converted into checker pieces. Cone Checkers – Play a giant game of checkers with cones converted into checker pieces.

Cone in the Zone – The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach is hosting a fun, summer twist on ‘Elf on the Shelf.’ The public is encouraged to come in and search the stacks to locate Mr. Coney McConerson, the Library’s decorated mini orange construction cone, who will be hiding in the Library all summer long. Find Coney, bring him to a customer service desk and win a prize.

Kid’s Cone Zone – Big City of West Palm Beach trucks and construction vehicles will be on display for kids to touch and explore.

I-Cone-ic Design Work – Take selfies with the King Cone, the life-size Tyrannosaurus Rex, and The Cones rock band — all made of cones! Find the creative transformation, created by Sutka Visual Design, on Clematis Street. Also, stop by each merchant on the 100 & 200 blocks of Clematis Street for a photo with their very own signature “cone in the zone.”

Orange Out Fridays – Downtown employees and all those visiting are encouraged to wear “traffic cone orange” on Fridays. The Clematis Cone Heads will be patrolling the 100 and 200 blocks weekly with fabulous prizes for those who participate.

SnowCONE Saturdays – Every Saturday from 12 – 2 p.m. visitors can get a free snow cone at the Blue Hut on the seawall at Flagler Drive and South Clematis Street.
