WEST PALM BEACH DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OFFERS FREE ONLINE WORKSHOPS ON COVID-19 CLEANING PROTOCOLS

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (July 10, 2020) – The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is working to keep Downtown businesses and patrons safe during the COVID-19 pandemic by hosting free, online COVID-19 cleaning workshops. The one-hour workshops will be offered on Zoom to businesses Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16 at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Registration is available at DowntownWPB.com/COVID19Workshop.

The eight workshops will be hosted by Veronica Vidal, CEO and founder of Company Custom Cleaning and Management Services (CCMS), a commercial cleaning company located at 21 N. Hepburn Ave. in Jupiter. Businesses located in the DDA district who participate in the workshop will also receive a Cleaning Starter Kit to equip them while supplies last. This kit includes a gallon of Bioesque disinfectant, paper rags, a spray bottle, masks, disposable gloves and special infographics outlining the steps needed to properly clean coronavirus off a surface.

“With rising cases of COVID-19, we wanted to be proactive and keep everyone healthy and safe,” said Raphael Clemente, Executive Director of the DDA. “This starts with making sure we’re properly cleaning and disinfecting all spaces, but especially high traffic areas like the many restaurants and retail stores in our Downtown District.”

“A lot of people don’t realize that there is a difference between sanitation, disinfecting and sterilizing a surface,” said Vidal, who has 16 years of experience leading CCMS. “While sanitizing a surface sounds more intense, it is actually another word for cleaning. And while sanitizing does lower germs and debris on a surface, the steps taken for disinfection and sterilization are what we need at this time to combat the spread of COVID-19. These are the procedures CCMS specializes in and what we want to teach local businesses.”

The workshops are part of the DDA’s “Dining on the Spot” efforts which allow restaurants to serve diners on extended sidewalks and alleyways, and are open to any interested businesses, even those that are not within the DDA’s boundaries. Cleaning Starter Kits are available to DowntownWPB businesses only. For more information on the workshops or the West Palm Beach DDA please visit DowntownWPB.com.
