WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 2, 2020) – The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority has adapted its popular annual holiday programming to ensure public health and safety in response to ongoing health concerns associated with COVID-19. The programs include a new program called Selfie With Sandi; 31 Days of Things to Do Downtown, and the creative, engaging, fast-moving Gingerbread Man interactions. In addition to pure holiday fun, each program also provides participants a chance to win prizes.
“Our 2020 celebrations will happen on schedule, but ensure that physical distancing protocols are maintained,” said Teneka James-Feaman, DDA Assistant Executive Director. “We’re so happy that we’ve been able to adapt our most popular holiday fun to keep everyone safe. The holiday spirit will thrive this year in Downtown, despite the reimagining and restrictions.”
“We’re launching a new social media campaign this season called Selfie with Sandi,” said Tiffany Faublas, the DDA’s Marketing Director. “We ask everyone who visits Sandi to take themed photos (announced on our social platforms) with the 35-foot, 700-ton holiday sand tree and submit through our contest portal.” The weekly themes and how to enter will be revealed on DowntownWPB’s social channels starting December 7, 2020.
The DDA’s other promotions are new takes on familiar events, including a month-long celebration of everything you can do in DowntownWPB. Starting December 1, @DowntownWPB will highlight something fun and safe that can be done within the district boundaries daily. Look for details on their social pages and website blog. This promotion will include special giveaways, reminiscent of the DDA’s annual “12 Days of Downtown” campaign in years past.
Finally, everyone’s favorite cookie character is back and running through Downtown’s streets! The Gingerbread Man will be popping up once a week through December. DowntownWPB will reveal his locations through hints on their social media pages. Participants who find the Gingerbread Man in person will be awarded gift cards (value up to $50) and other prizes.
