12/02/13 – Sandi Clause is Coming to Downtown!

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 2, 2013) – The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) makes sure that the holiday season for Clematis District residents and visitors is “always original,” – the exciting brand promise at the heart of the Downtown experience. From holiday events the whole family can enjoy decorations that light up faces as well as streets and sidewalks, Downtown is filled with holiday cheer all season long.

The holidays will officially commence in Downtown West Palm Beach during Clematis by Night on Dec. 5. The community will congregate for the lighting of the world’s first 600-ton holiday tree sculpted from sand and trimmed in sea-themed holiday décor. The evening will include activities for kids, a visit from Santa Claus and a free concert presented by the DDA featuring country music star, Randy Houser, and West Palm Beach’s very own Brooke Eden. The evening will kick off the nightly choreographed music and light shows that will take place on the half-hour from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

For shoppers looking to cross a few items off their own wish lists, the DDA is counting down the days to the holiday rush by offering its Facebook and Twitter fans exciting gifts and giveaways from the Clematis District as part of the “12 Days of Downtown.” Follow each day through Tuesday, Dec. 10 to see what kind of surprises are in store.

Spend a winter afternoon enjoying free operatic fun at Palm Beach Opera’s first-ever Opera @ the Waterfront Concert. The whole family can enjoy a live community concert of opera arias and ensembles performed by the critically acclaimed Palm Beach Opera orchestra and chorus. The afternoon will feature a performance by stellar Palm Beach Opera soloist and audience favorite tenor, James Valenti. This free event will be held at Meyer Amphitheatre on Dec. 14 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. For more information on Opera @ the Waterfront visit www.pbopera.org.
