New Ways To Celebrate The Holidays In Downtown West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 18, 2019) – The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is spreading holiday joy throughout Downtown West Palm Beach with several events and displays the last weekend before Christmas. In addition to their Gingerbread Man promotion and new holiday lights, the DDA will also host a free event called Saturday Soiree – Holiday Edition on Saturday, December 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Oasis Park at 300 S. Australian Avenue, in between the Edge Condominium and the Tri-Rail Stations. This neighborhood gathering will feature a toy drive, games, live entertainment and food trucks.

The Holiday Edition is the first event in a new series called Saturday Soiree, part of the DDA’s Westside pop-up events that are designed to forge a connection between people who live and work west of the Tri-Rail tracks to the rest of the Downtown District.

“The goal is to foster a sense of community and inclusion with people living on the outskirts of Downtown” said Sherryl Muriente, DDA’s Manager of Urban Placemaking. “We’re bringing some of the benefits of living Downtown, like live music and food directly to their doorstep.”

Saturday’s event will feature food from Que Rico and Crayzlicious as well as live music from Kevin O and Drew Dockerill. There is limited parking, so visitors are asked to bike or utilize ridesharing services like Uber or Lyft. Those interested in attending are asked to register by going to DowntownWPB.com/SaturdaySoiree.

In addition to the Soiree, this is also the last weekend for residents and visitors to “catch” the DDA’s Gingerbread Man. The new, fun-loving character makes surprise appearances around Downtown West Palm Beach and distributes prizes every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. His last appearance will be Sunday, December 22. Stay tuned to DowntownWPB’s social media channels to find his last locations. Find them with the @DowntownWPB username on Instagram and Facebook.
