WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (November 27, 2019) – Run, run, run just as fast as you can… to Downtown West Palm Beach for a chance to catch the Gingerbread Man! The adorable cookie-creature will embark on regular adventures around Downtown West Palm Beach from now until December 22. The fun-loving confection will come out of the oven and make his first appearance on Black Friday to giveaway goodies and prizes to those who stop and see him. Watch for the gregarious character to pop up at different Downtown locations every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday through December 22. All public appearances will fall between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Finding the Gingerbread Man is part of the fun! Each location will be revealed on DowntownWPB’s social media channels via photo with a blurred background. Prizes will be given out to the first ten people to catch the Gingerbread man, with the biggest prize going to the first to arrive. Prizes are valued at $25 each.

Staying in step with the “ginger” theme, several Downtown businesses will be offering ginger-themed items and experiences during the holiday season. Cafes and bars like Subculture Coffee, Jöhan’s Joe, and American Craft Aleworks will all be featuring ginger drink specials, while restaurants Fern Street Wine Bar and Butcher Shop Bar and Grill will serve ginger-themed dishes.

“We wanted to do something festive and fun  to celebrate the season,” said Teneka James-Feaman, Associate Director of the DDA. “The idea developed because of the high number of bakeries downtown (we have nine!), and when combined with the DDA’s mission to add elements of surprise and delight to downtown life, this delicious idea emerged as a great way to create more awareness for downtown’s businesses. Hunting for the Gingerbread Man will prompt visits to places you might not yet know!”
