The DDA intends to continue the discussions within our community. During LGBT History Month, the DDA is partnering with Compass to lead discussions that brings awareness and understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.
LGBT History Month is a month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements that takes place every October.
Help us build a more inclusive and vibrant community by joining our new safe online space to process, share, and express what you’re feeling.

Week One: Understanding All Genders
This will be a discussion on society’s evolving understanding of gender. Compass Community Center will provide a presentation of gender terms and a discussion on the science that explains the transgender experience. Week Two: HIV and Staying Safe During COVID-19
In this discussion, Compass Community Center will use lessons from the past to help navigate safety during our current situation, especially as it relates to personal relationships and staying safe from both HIV and the Coronavirus. Week Three: Acceptance – LGBTQ Youth Today
LGBTQ+ identifying youth face greater occurrences of discrimination and bullying. Unfortunately, that isn’t limited to experiences at school. Week Four: Mental Health Disparities: LGBTQ+
Mental Health is a crucial part of everyone’s overall health and wellbeing. For LGBTQ people, this is no different, but finding qualified mental health practitioners who understand the unique issues LGBTQ+ people face is still difficult in a heteronormative culture. Compass Community Center will help guide a discussion about these challenges and how all people can work towards healthier mental health. Submit inquiries to email@example.com.
