- Hispanic Heritage Month: Hispanic Culture in American Art Museums

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage month with art! Join lecturer and art historian Joan Lipton, Ph.D. and learn about the many contributions by Hispanic artists to our country. In two presentations, Dr. Lipton will highlight top artists and architects from South and Central America, including those represented in our museums across the country: New York City, Chicago, California and Texas among others. - Foreign Film Series: A Fantastic Woman

This month’s film is the 2017 Chilean film A Fantastic Woman. In this drama, Marina, a transgender woman who works as a waitress and moonlights as a nightclub singer, is deeply affected by the death of her older boyfriend. While mourning his loss, she becomes aware that she is under great scrutiny. This movie became the first Chilean film to win the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards; it also won awards in the Berlin International Film Festival, the Cabourg Film Festival, and the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
