EMERGENCE: Marco Casagrande

EMERGENCE is a biannual speaker experience that brings internationally or nationally known keynote speakers that are delving into forward thinking and emerging themes that are relevant to our urban context. The lectures will bring awareness to contemporary urban, architectural, and art practices as it relates to the future of our Downtown. In collaboration with our neighboring district, Rosemary Square, 1909, and Connect WPB, the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority is working together in co-hosting this speaker event that is free and open to the public.

The first speaker is internationally renowned Finnish architect Marco Casagrande, who is one of the designers and artist of Broadstone’s CityZen Garden, a new 1% for the Arts urban oasis situated in the heart of Downtown West Palm Beach.

About Marco Casagrande
Marco Casagrande (born 1971) graduated from the Helsinki University of Technology Department of Architecture in 2001. From the early stages of his career, Casagrande started to mix architecture with other disciplines of art and science landing with a series of ecologically conscious architectural installations around the world. All in all, more than 70 realized works in 14 countries.

He is the laureate of the European Prize for Architecture 2013, Committee of International Architecture Critics CICA Award 2013 for conceptual and artistic architecture and UNESCO & Locus Foundation’s Global Award for Sustainable Architecture 2015.

Most recently, Marco Casagrande collaborated with artist team LeJobart in completing the design work for Broadstone’s CityZen Garden located at 400 Datura Street, West Palm Beach.
