Unique Ways to Get Out and Get Active in #DowntownWPB

Getting out and getting active in Downtown West Palm Beach doesn’t mean you always have to have some kind of master plan. Sure, we have a vibrant nightlife, a variety of dining and shopping options, and an incredible waterfront that lends itself as the perfect backdrop to regularly occurring festivals, concerts and community gatherings. But you can also enjoy yourself in DowntownWPB by simply switching up the way you get from place to place. After all, sometimes the journey is better than the destination. Is that a ridiculous cliche? Of course. But watch this video and you’ll see what we’re talking about…

That all looks awesome, but naturally you have a few questions. Yes, you can enjoy waterfront runs along Flagler Drive whenever you’d like, and our bike-friendly downtown area allows for those two wheels to be your one form of transportation all over our city. But what were those other things and how can you take advantage of them? Those are the questions we want to answer for you right now by introducing you to some of the most unique and enjoyable ways to get around DowntownWPB.

Palm Beach Free Ride:
We’ll start with an easy one: Palm Beach Free Ride. Seriously, don’t overthink it. It’s exactly what it sounds like: a free ride around Palm Beach. This cost-conscious, environmentally friendly operation to provides people with free rides along its route throughout some of the most popular districts in the area, including Worth Avenue, CityPlace and Clematis Street. This season, Palm Beach Free Ride is operating until May 7, running from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the week and even later on weekends! All you need to do is flag them down or wait at one of their stops, or if you know ahead of time you’ll be in need of their services, you can alert the drivers by sending your location via text message to 561-800-4400. Then just hop in and enjoy #thefreeride.

Palm Beach Segway Tours:
Palm Beach free ride is a great option for when you’ve got somewhere to be, but what if you just want to explore the area with no specific destination in mind? Allow us to segue into telling you about Palm Beach Segway Tours. (For anyone shaking their head at that shameless wordplay, you may be interested to know that’s actually how the Segway got its name.)

When the Segway was first invented, its creator envisioned this two-wheeled personal transportation device as the eventual replacement to walking itself. That hasn’t exactly happened, but Segways are a really cool alternative to walking, and what’s more, they’re readily available for you to cruise around DowntownWPB. Located at 330 Clematis Street, Palm Beach Segway Tours provides a one-of-a-kind way to experience the downtown district, the waterfront and beyond with guided tours available for groups and individuals. They’ll even bring the Segways to you to liven up group events with things like obstacle courses, Segway sports, mini tours and more! Don’t worry if you’ve never ridden a Segway before, either. Palm Beach Segway Tours will have you trained and ready to roll in no time!

Cycle Party:
Speaking of rolling around downtown, a Cycle Party tour is the ultimate way to ensure your journey through DowntownWPB rivals the destination itself. Whether you’re looking to hop from place to place or just want a unique way to take in DowntownWPB, Cycle Party is perfect for all kinds of celebrations and social outings. Their group bikes seat up to 15 people plus an experienced Cycle Party driver and tour guide, and you don’t even have to pedal if you don’t want to (five seats are specifically for coasters). You can bring your own music, food and drinks along for the ride, and you can even get great deals and discounts at local hotspots just for arriving in style. Not exactly your average bike ride, but then again, DowntownWPB is far from average.

IScoot Palm Beach:
Moving on from the “pedal your own party” option, we come to iScoot Palm Beach. Whether you’re looking for personal transportation for a practical or leisurely pursuit, iScoot has you covered at their 325 South Dixie Highway location every day of the week besides Tuesdays (depending on the weather). You can whip around the downtown area on a motorized scooter for anywhere between 2-24 hours at a time, all for less than $100. If traditional bicycles are more your speed, iScoot has those available to rent as well. You can rent a single or tandem bike for as long as a full day if you need it, and you can even rent a trailer so you can bring the little ones along for the ride!

Scoot, cycle, segway or ride around DowntownWPB!
Now that you’ve seen these rides in action and know what they are and how you can take advantage, the only question left is which will be your favorite. We’re looking forward to seeing you figure out the answer for yourself in DowntownWPB!
